  1. When in Maine, eat lobster! Maine has over 3,400 miles of coastline. A few great spots to visit along the coast include the Nubble Lighthouse in York, the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth, and Walker Point in Kennebunkport (vacation home to President George H.W. Bush). Acadia National Park is beautiful- you can hike Cadillac Mountain, trail ride on horses, or enjoy the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. Maine is also home to Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park, the very end of the Appalachian Trail.

  2. In Kansas, we went to Botanica. Inside was the Downing Children’s Garden. This new garden is an educational, imaginative, interactive and engaging environment where families can enjoy, discover and appreciate our natural world.
We had the opportunity to explore more than one acre of themed areas, each offering educational and entertaining experiences.

The Downing Children’s Garden had an amazing palette of plants to discover and fun encounters around every corner. A Farm with raised beds and a working water pump, a giant tree and tree house to climb in, an Enchanted Glen for storytelling, puppet shows and chalk drawing, a Musical Maze to navigate through, Monster trees that have come to life and a Pond to hop across.
