I am in Southern California, Long Beach area, we have a lot of things for a must see here. The El Dorado park is wonderful for kids it has lots of loose ducks, swans, and if you enter the entrance on Spring St you can even rent a small Pedal boat to go around one of the many small lakes in the park. In the summer months there is even a little children's train to add to her pleasure. Just walking around it is entertaining and free. There is also a Nature Center walk that has lots of interesting things to see like turtles floating on the little creek area and many other things to see. One end of the park even has a garden area that you can walk through. It is 388.2 acres large! Wow..check out their website. http://www.longbeach.gov/park/parks_and_open_spaces/parks/el_dorado_regional_park.asp there is also an the Aquarium of the Pacific http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/ that is wonderful for kids downtown lots of entertainment too! Long Beach has so much to see and do that it is well worth your time to visit! The Queen Mary is here too and the bordering small time beach town, Seal Beach has a pier and lots of "old town" atmosphere for all. A fun local hang out to go fly a kite as it is the best beach to do it. I think you will enjoy your visit here. Hope this helps. Debb
Durango, Colorado is the place to go. Ride the narrow gauge steam engine train up into the mountains. The scenery is just breath taking. The train takes you to Silverton where you can catch a bus back to Durango. But, be sure you make your reservations in advance, cause the train fills up fast.
